The Human-Animal Bond

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has estimated that "approximately 37-47% of all households in the United States have a dog, and 30-37% have a cat". There are so many Americans with pets in their homes, and most of them are unaware of the ways that their pets are affecting their health.

Pets can be some of the best companions a person will have. They can be loyal, smart, silly, energetic, shy, friendly, and so much more. Whether you prefer furry friends with four paws or scaly reptiles with claws, pets can have a significant impact on your well-being.

In my home, we have two cats, Lulu and Bella. They can be sweet and cuddly, energetic, or lazy. Animals have their own personalities and habits and behaviors that make them unique. When you decide to take in an animal to your home, they become a part of your family that you can't imagine living without.

Thanks to the Michigan Council of Women in Technology, I have had the opportunity to compete in an annual contest and enter my website for the chance of becoming a finalist. Since this is my second year competing, I will be entering the advanced category. This year's theme is "Love Those Pets", so my theme has been centered around this main idea.

In creating this website, I hope to demonstrate the benefits animals can have to children, adults, and seniors, and how having a domestic animal can help us in different ways at every stage of our lives. This is a collection of the basic knowledge I have acquired through my own research. I want to get people interested in this topic, inspire them to research on their own, and show just how great pets are!
