=Preparing for My Week Without Technology=

Before I even begin my week without technology, I would need to prepare. A large chunk of my schoolwork relies on using digital devices. Whether it be in my Arabic class, where I use my cell phone to look up vocabulary words and their translations; or in my AP Seminar class, where I need to use online databases and Google Drive to research and write essays, technology would have to removed. I also use tech for other things, like entertainment purposes such as gaming. Steps to Being Tech Free:

The first thing I would do is change my digital planner app into a paper one, transferring all my assignments and deadlines. I’d have to keep this planner on me at all times, so I could input new assignments and check what I need to accomplish today.

The next thing I would do would be take all my contacts and write them down. With the lack of technology, I could only use landlines, which don’t have a built in contacts application. If an emergency occurs, or if I needed to collaborate on a project with a classmate, I would need to be able to access them without using a phone.

I would go to the library! With the rise of online resources, using libraries to research has become fairly obsolete. I would need to check out reference books for my classes instead of relying on what was online. I would also need to print out all my online work from Google Classroom in advance so I could complete it for the week.

The final thing I would need to do was figure out methods of entertainment. I would fix my bike, check out some entertaining books, and see what was on cable television. I think I would try to go out more with my friends, and explore my neighborhood. Without Netflix and Twitter, I wouldn’t have the internet to explore, so I would explore my surroundings instead. I would try to find a cassette player and some cassette tapes to use in place of Soundcloud
