Homework

This year is shaping to be the busiest year of my High School life. I spend weekdays mostly completing schoolwork and preparing for the college aptitude tests. My Advanced Placement (AP) courses, AP Language and AP Seminar, require a lot of reading and writing skills. I completed my assignments on writing a memoir, an argumentative essay, a rhetorical analysis and my research on International Aid. I referred several books to complete my assignments.

Library

The Novi Public Library is right across the High School. I walk over to the library to avail the necessary resources. The library provides the ambience to prepare for college tests. I time myself to take Math, Reading and Writing practice tests. I borrow books for reading to get ideas for my AP Language and AP Seminar courses:
  • The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls
  • When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi and Abraham Verghese
  • The 57 Bus: A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater
Plus, I use the library as my go-to location for rehearsing presentations, and studying with my friends.

Group work

Some of the school assignments require us to work in teams. Group work helps us learn from each other and helps us to understand the concepts better. A recent assignment on International Aid required several hours of individual and group work. We divided the topic into three parts and completed individual analysis for about a couple of weeks. In the third week, we met as a group to share our individual parts and provided feedback to each other. We figured out ways to present the topic in 10 minutes.
