We have both been playing flute since the fifth grade, and it has grown into one of our greatest passions in life. We both play in the symphonic band at our high school and are proud to be a part of the school's excellent marching band. This level of excellence requires practice. Lots of it. Unfortunately, the distractions of social media hinder our ability to focus when practicing. Many of our fellow instrumentalists have also experienced similar concentration issues - a simple ding of a phone nearby has the potential to interrupt what could have been a very productive practice session. This week, we decided to literally lock our phones away during our practice time. We found that this was incredibly effective at improving the quality and length of our session, and we hope to continue doing this in the future.

We both are avid art enthusiasts. Watercolor, pencil, sketch, acrylic paint, you name it! Although art is one of our greatest passions in life, we can never seem to fit in the time for it. When we do have free time, rather than spending it on something we’re really passionate about, we systematically go on YouTube or Instagram. Ironically, we often spend time watching videos of amazing artists such as Daria Callie instead of pursuing painting on our own. We have created works that we are very proud of and definitely plan to set out chunks of time in the future to churn out more!
