Both of us love sleep. It's the best thing ever, and it's also the best thing ever for your health. However, we often end up going to bed late or lying awake at night. Technology is definitely one of the root causes. An unproductive day due to distractions from digital technology can lead to long nights filled with homework and sleeping at midnight. Many people including ourselves have habits of going on our phones before sleeping, and this can be really harmful to a good night of sleep. The blue light screens emit can offset your sleep cycle and circadian rhythms. Avoiding screens would definitely allow us better and earlier sleep and therefore better health.

Choose MyPlate declares that "children and adolescents should do 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day." Do we reach that goal? If you count in all of the walking we do across our very large school, we might come halfway. We normally jog and do yoga or strength training at home, but these sessions are sporadic, and we would like to see these become a part of a weekly routine. The benefits of exercise are countless - increased happiness, less stress, healthier bodies… Removing the temptation to engage with our phones would free up the time to work towards this simple yet very beneficial goal.
