Learning the Old-Fashioned Way

I always loved to learn new things in my free time, and a lack of technology isn’t enough to stop me in my pursuit for knowledge. There are so many other ways to keep learning!

Niki Reading a Book

Trips to the Library

Instead of relying on Google for all my answers, I would go back to the old-fashioned ways of checking out a book at the library when ever I want to learn something new.

I love reading, but I usually depend on ebooks so I don't need to go the library each time I want a new book. However, no internet means no ebooks, which means you'll find me spending almost all my time in the Canton Public Library.

Book Shelves

Learning Through Books

Just with one visit to the library anyone can see the thousands of books available, and these countless books contain topics ranging anywhere from sewing tutorials to drawing techniques. Whenever I went through phases where I thought, “I want to learn that!” I would stop by the library to pick up a book with examples and tutorials. If I had to go without technology, I would go back to this method of trying out new things. Click here if you want to find some amazing books I used when beginning to draw!

Sitting with Grandparents

Chatting with the Elders

Whenever I visited India, my parents would purposefully make my brother and I go without technology. Even though I complained in the beginning, I truly enjoyed it in the end since I spent so much more time talking with my grandparents, learning about how their lives were back when they were young kids.

Coding Book

Learning to Code Without the Internet

Just because I don’t have internet to test out my programs doesn’t mean I’m going to stop learning how to code. The library has a multiple shelves filled with books about coding in languages such as HTML, Python, Java, and more, all with examples.
