My Week Without Digital Technology

Communication

Since cell phones are no longer functional, communicating has become far more difficult. If there's ever a change in my schedule for school or clubs, I can't easily text either of my parents to let them now. Other high schoolers may be able to solve this issue by driving themselves from place to place. However, I'm not of legal age to do so, making it harder for both me and my parents to know what's going on in terms of my school schedule.

'Hey' sticky note

It's also become a challenge to communicate with my friends. If I ever want to talk to them or if I need assistance on a school assignment, I can't easily send them a text like I usually would. This means that I have to either talk to them face to face at school or some other pre-planned destination, or that I have to call them on a landline phone. With cell phones, many people in a household could call whomever they'd like all at the same time. With landline phones, I have to wait for my turn to call a friend who can return my call (that is, if their phone isn't also being used). Patience truly is a virtue during situations like these.
