Food: Then and Now!

How has food changed?

Food has changed quite a bit over the past few decades. From sushi to pancakes, it seems like we can get just about any kind of food at any time of day. However, it wasn't always like this. In the mid-ninteenth century, there was a limited variety of food. Most people wanted to get the most amount of food for the cheapest price to feed their families. This led to an increase in foods such as Jello and TV dinners, which were cheap and easy to make. Today, there is a shift towards healthy choices, shown by more consumers shifting towards dairy-free, vegan/vegetarian, and gluten-free options. It does seem like most of the foods from the mid-ninteenth century are still around though, even though they aren't as popular as they once were.

What kind of food was eaten back then?

Some popular foods of the mid-twentieth century were casseroles, fondue, pineapple upside-down cake, ambrosia salad, and meatloaf. There were also many well-known brands, like McDonalds, Hershey's, and Kellog's Cereal. Are any of these your favorite meals or brands?
