How has transportation changed?

During my grandparent's time, transportation looked quite different. From cars to planes to ships, almost every mode of transportation has seen innovations and advancements unlike ever imagined before. Because of this, travel back then and travel now look quite different. Read on to find out more information!

Cars

Old automobiles had fewer features than they do today. During the mid-ninteenth century, many car giants like Ford and GM were manufacturing millions of cars every year. Today, there are many different brands and types of automobiles, giving customers more freedom to choose.

Planes

In the mid-ninteenth century, flights were beginning to become common to the public. Commerical flying looked very different back then, with relaxed security and luxurious, roomy flights. Nowadays, flying has become even more commonplace and is more secure.

Trains

After WW2, the use of trains declined greatly. Since the rise of automobiles and the creation of the interstate in the 1950s, the need for trains to transport goods was far less than it was before. Now, trains are still used in big cities but less so than other forms of transport.

Ships

Ships were used during both world wars to fight and transport supplies. In addition, this was how many people emigrated accross the world. Today, ships are mostly used for transporting goods, as well as cruise vacations and travel.
