School

When my grandmother was in school there were many things that differed from how schools are like today for me. Firstly one notable thing is that there was no kindergarten at the school my grandma attended which the same cannot be said for my school. Another thing she mentioned is that her first grade class had been the largest so far in their town only containing 15 kids and were the start of the baby boomers after World War II ended. This somewhat suprised me a little since now a days most classes usually average around 25 kids but she did also grow up in a small town. There, they had no lunch program until she was in third grade so she had to back her lunch in a metal lunch box and most of the time would only eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as they were just about the only thing that wouldn't be food poison by lunch time. Now, there is the difference that school lunche programs are a very common thing at most schools and there are more things that students can bring other than sandwiches that will be edible by lunchtime, but peanut butter and jellies are still a very common thing for people to pack for their lunches. Their classes had three classes in each room with one teacher which eventually got reduced to two classes per room, and eventually the school was added onto and some buses were bought. These buses bussed kids into Edinburg from three other towns, Gardar, Mountain, and Union and this is how she met grandpa who was bussed in from Gardar.
