Taylor Swift has nine studio albums, not including the re-records. Her first four albums
fall into the country genre. These albums go in the order of "Taylor Swift"(2006),
"Fearless"(2008), "Speak Now"(2010), and "Red"(2012). The success of her debut album had her
going into the music world greatly. With the release of her highly successful sophomore album
"Fearless," Taylor Swift started to become a name everyone knew, quickly establishing her as a
teenage country-pop icon. Her 2010 album "Speak Now" was her first and only self-written album.
Much like the album itself, the "Speak Now" era was undoubtedly defined as magical. Her 2012
album "Red," represented more of a turning point in her life/career while going into adulthood.
"Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person"(Swift 2021).
Taylor's next three albums are in the pop genre. She was one of the first and only artists
to change her genre in the middle of her career. She got a lot of support during this, and a
lot of hate. Despite the rude comments, she put out her next three pop albums
which were "1989"(2014), "reputation"(2017), and "Lover"(2019). "1989" was her first full-scale
pop album which got her experiencing more commercial success than ever before. After the "1989"
era, she started to get a lot of hate from the media, so she dissapeared from the public
for months and came back with her next album "reputation" which changed her style completely,
but still in the pop genre. When "Lover" was dropped, it contained an optimistic, colorful, and
bright kind of aesthetic. Taylor's pop genre era had many different sides to it, which made it
that more special and unique.
In 2020, she changed her music genre again with the release of her 8th studio album
"folklore". Staying in the alternative genre, she released "evermore"
later that same year. It is safe to say that no one expected the surprise release of "folklore"
in July because the pandemic had just recently hit the world, so no artist could really
put out new music, but Taylor Swift found a way. The new Alternative music style she was using
gave a "farmcore" and indie-folk aesthetic. After the shock of the first
album, no one expected another one five months later with her next album "evermore".
"evermore" was known as the sister album to "folklore", and these were so well loved by the fans.
No one knows what she plans to do next, but based on
the past few years of her surprises, anything could happen, and no one would be
ready for it.
