The Changes of Style and Creativity Throughout Her Career

Over the course of her career, Taylor Swift has made nine albums and has re-recorded two of them so far, Fearless and Red. She began her career with lots of country music, then it slowly progressed into pop music by the time it reached her fifth album, 1989. She explored pop rock in her sixth album Reputation and bubblegum pop in the Lover. The most drastic shift she made, however, was when she released Folklore and Evermore in 2020. These albums have a more Indie feel, and neither her fans nor the general audience saw this coming from her. Taylor could have made more chart-topping pop hits, but instead went in her own direction making music she truly enjoys. In these two albums, she was able to focus more on the songwriting and tell stories within music. Over her whole career, she never made music to please the public. She made music the way she wanted to and changed styles, even when the general audience did not want her to. I admire the fact that she never let others dictate her life like other artists do.
