Grooming

Grooming is the one aspect that humans would not benefit from if we acted more like our pets. One reason is that, we would be consistently attempting to groom ourselves; the way that cats and dogs lick themselves on a daily basis. Imagine walking down the street on your way to work in the morning and witnessing a full grown man sitting on a park bench licking himself all over the place. I don’t know about you, but I would not want to start my day off that way.

If humans did this our world would be a very scary, and stinky place. Once, every month we would have to go to the groomer to get cleaned, our hair cut, and even our nails trimmed. Us humans generally bathe every day and clean our hair every other day. Girls get their hair cut every two months while boys get their hair cut once every month.

This style of living would definitely take some time to get used to. By living this way, and only taking a bath once a month, the lakes and our water would definitely benefit. Not only would we be not wasting any access water by taking baths, we would only be taking one bath a month. We would save thousands maybe even millions of gallons of water per year.

Angela’s grandma is a groomer, so we talked with her about pets and humans and their similarities and differences. The conversation went as follows:

Q: How do you think that humans act different than pets?
A: Humans can be more selfish than pets.

Q: How do pets react when they are getting groomed?
Why do you think they act this way?

A: Some animals jump or bite, others are well behaved.
I think it is because of the breed of the pet or how they’ve been treated.

Q: What is the craziest hair cut/style you had to give a pet?
A: I had to give a cocker spaniel a mohawk from the head down and it had to be dyed blue on the head. I also had to give it a Fu Manchu mustache.

Q: What do you love about grooming pets the most?
A: I like being creative and making them look good. I also really like pets in general.

Q: How do you feel that humans would benefit from a pet life style?
A: They would have good people taking care of them most of the time, depending on the owner, and they would get played with.

Q: How do you feel that pets would benefit from a human life style?
A: They would be smart and get to decide things for themselves.

Q: What do you feel is the most challenging thing about pet grooming?
A: The owners attitudes. They tend baby their pets, which makes the pets jump around when the owners leave.
