About Us

RylieMy name is Rylie Duggan and I am currently a senior at Lake Shore High School. My dream is to become a veterinary technician or service animal trainer. Technology is a big part of the veterinary field, especially for vet technicians: “tech” is even part of the job title! I would be interacting with a ton of medical equipment such as x-rays, blood analyzers, and ultrasound imaging. Becoming a service animal trainer will probably mean starting my own business, which means I will have to use technology to manage my clients and financial records. I’m really grateful that I’m not going into the future completely clueless about the technology needed in my field of work, thanks to my Web Design class.

Stephanie My name is Stephanie Tripp. I am 17 and currently attend Lake Shore High School and Macomb Community College. I am a part of the Early College of Macomb program, which allows me to take college courses while in high school. After my 3rd year next year, I will have successfully obtained my art associate degree. I want to get into the IT field. More specifically, I want to become a Digital Media Specialist. A Digital Media Specialist uses design skills and technology to produce content used in video games, websites, as well as audio content, special effects, and animation. This career pathway ties in with technology because after all, it is Information Technology. New, advanced technology is approaching faster every day. Social media is used everywhere, and with this career I will be using it 24/7.

Conclusion

The journey to create this website has been long and sometimes stressful, but it was also so much fun. Before this class, we barely knew how to build a Weebly page. Who knew we would ever be able to code our own website, including creating graphics and content? From the basics of HTML coding, to using Photoshop to make a banner and navigation buttons, we've learned so much in just a few short weeks. The hardest part was probably perfecting our images. We spent countless hours editing our banner especially. It was sometimes frustrating, but seeing our finished, polished website made it all worth it. We're so thankful to MCWT for giving us this opportunity.

The theme of power forced us to look at the world in a different way. We discovered that a lot of superpowers you see in comic books actually exist in the real world, in one way or another. It's really cool to think that hypnotherapists, like Ruth Linh, scientists, and even animals are superheroes in their own right. It makes you wonder if we all have some kind of power hidden within ourselves. Maybe this website will help you discover yours!
