How They Work

Robotic surgery is done, currently, with the da Vinci™ surgical system. This machine has specialized arms for holding a camera and instruments. The body then has a magnified screen and a console for the surgeon to sit at and perform the surgery. The da Vinci™ is NOT an AI (Artificial Intelligence) machine. The surgeon controls everything via the console. The da Vinci™ performs the surgery via minimally invasive incisions along the body. Minimally invasive refers to the use of very small incisions. The da Vinci eliminates the need to cut the patient open, which reduces risk for the patient greatly.
