Purrfect Treats *Credits

Hello my name is Megan Ritz; I am 17 years old and currently a senior at Lake Shore High School. I am Senior Captain of the Varsity Dance Team and Social Events Coordinator of the Lake Shore chapter of HOSA. I have been a member of the National Honor Society since January of 2016 and a National Student Leadership Conference Alumni since August 2016. My goal in life is to become a Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon. Technology will pertain to my future career pathway because the world, especially in the medical field, is evolving technologically everyday. My favorite animal is a giraffe because they are really tall and I am not. I also can feed them at the zoo. My favorite indoor pets are cats and dogs. I love them both equally so much. I love them because they are both so cuddly and loving. They cheer me up on a bad day.

Looking Back

During this project I learned that animals are very special and everything we feed them has to be both delicious and safe for them to eat. I never realized how many different foods that cat’s could not eat. It makes me think twice before I feed my dogs’ table scraps. I learned so many new things in web design; starting with there was more than picking a theme and a color scheme from weebly. I learned that behind all of the details on a website, there are hours and hours of coding to do.

One thing that was fun in the class was getting to be the designer. I got to do things my way and keep things how I liked them. What was extremely difficult for me was having every little detail right in the coding. Since the littlest things could make the website not work, it stressed me out constantly trying to find what it was. For example, I spent days trying to figure out why my CSS coding was not working, searching every inch of my codes, just to find out it was just a simple misspelling.

This trimester I was given the opportunity to visit an organization known as Detroit Animal Welfare Group or DAWG for short. It is an association that takes in stray and unwanted animals to a large no kill farm. They have dogs, cats, birds, and even pigs! Getting to volunteer on that farm for a day was such an honoring experience. I got to see the hard working men and woman saving these innocent animals.

In the class you learn how to fill out tax reforms, which bank accounts you should open, and how to handle money. Media Productions I	An all year media class that teaches you the basics of preproduction, production, and postproduction. The class uses different forms of cameras and editing tools to make the video look good. The class goes more in depth with a photography unit as well as a sound unit.
