Service animals

I interviewed Ms. Erika about service animals, she works in the Macomb Daily and her black lab Cooley helps her in her job. Ms. Erika told me about the process she went through to get a service animal. The line to have a service dog is long, you have to wait longer and you have a specific breed of dog you want.

The process to train the dogs is to first train them in obedience. coolly Then they have find out what the client’s disability is so they can train the dog what to be around so they would not be surprised and help train with what they need them to do for the client. After the training, the dog is sent to the person in need.

There is also a process for that to, there is a company person that goes there to help the dog and client, then there is a month period where the company agent is not there and the dog and client have to work as a team without help but if there is a problem or need help they can call the company agent, after the month period the agent comes back to check and see.

When the service dogs are old and hard to help, you can send them to a home that would like a pet, also there are dogs that are trained but are not obedient enough to be a service dog but are trained and they can be pets. Happily there is a long list of people who would like them as pets.
