Spreading Positivity One Card at a Time

Our first way of spreading happiness and positivity to others is with positivity/kindness cards. With our cards, we hope to not only brightens someone’s day but also make people realize how important they are. Although we would love to take credit for an amazing idea like this, we got the inspiration from many different places that handout kindness cards with compliments on them. An example is, A Beautiful Me.

Nowadays there tends to be a lot of negativity in this world, and we’re hoping to change that one small card at a time. You may be wondering, how could one card possibly change someone’s day or life? Imagine you’re having a horrible day and someone comes and gives you a card that says something like “you’re courageous” or “you’re kind-hearted,” wouldn’t that brighten your horrible day at least a little bit?

As Mother Teresa once said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.” We know the cards won’t save the world, but we think it’s a nice place to start.

To share the importance of these kindness cards, we will be doing two different things. Firstly, we are going to a classroom to handout ours cards and cookies to the kids. Each kid will get a different kindness card to brighten their day. These cards will have various statements that we hope change someone’s day.

The second experience we have is handing out positivity sheets to highlight one specific person at a time. We handed everyone in the classroom a piece of paper with someone else’s name on and gave them about 20 minutes to write as much as they could positively about that person to the best of their ability. Focusing on one person instead of giving everyone a chance to write about the same person, made it more personable. After the sheets were filled out, we called everyone up one by one to read what someone else wrote about them in front of the whole class. The reactions we got were even better than we could have expected and you can find videos of the experience on our Twitter feed.
