Eating Sweets Can Make You Happier

The beeping of the oven signaling that the wait is finally over, the sweet and inviting smell of vanilla and chocolate mixing together so beautifully, and the taste of warm melted chocolate running along your taste buds. What isn’t there to love about homemade cookies?

Our final way of spreading positivity is through cookies.

According to our poll on Twitter, 79% of people believe eating cookies or other desserts and candy makes them happier. We hope that the taste and smell of the cookies brighten someone’s day. There’s nothing like coming home on a cold, rainy day and eating some freshly baked cookies made by someone you love. We hoped to recreate that feeling in a classroom setting and spread positivity at the same time.

To share the importance of these cookies, we passed out cookies to fellow a journalism class and a few random classmates. The cookies were combined with the kindness cards that we talked about on our first page.

We took the cookie and card combinations to the journalism class and encouraged the students to pass along the cards and share their cookies. What human being doesn’t love free cookies as well as compliments? I know we sure do!

With having so much extra Halloween candy, we taped kindness cards to fun-sized candy bars and handed those out to people we passed in the hallway. We also handed cookies out at random, the reactions we received when offering them were priceless. "You're so sweet, thank you!" was one of the many positive replies we received. Giving away cookies also made our day better. We hope to reach as many people as possible with our positivity.
