We’ve all heard Ernestine Ulmer’s saying, “Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first.” Most of us will agree that dessert is the best part! By dictionary, a dessert is a sweet course eaten at the end of a meal. Cookies are my favorite type of dessert, and I haven't met one person that doesn't like them. I love to bake and eat all kinds of cookies.
I am fortunate enough to share my love of baking with the Michigan Council of Women in Technology, also known as MCWT. The MCWT Contest is a web design competition focused on girls in high school. For the contest, contestants are required to code a five page website consisting of an introduction page, three content pages, and a credits page. The contest's theme this year is "Food, Glorious Food!" My website will be focusing on just cookies on all three content pages. Also, I will be comparing cookies I make to cookies bought from the store. I find myself in the kitchen quite often whether it is baking, cooking, or even eating. Baking would have to be my favorite thing to do in the kitchen. For parties and holidays I always bake a plate of cookies to bring instead of buying something. I love taking time to make food in return for compliments when people like what I’ve baked. Within my website I will be showing viewers how to make three different types of cookies; chocolate chip cookies, snicker doodle cookies, and peanut butter cookies. I will also be comparing the cookies I make to store bought cookies. To compare store bought and home made cookies I brought all three types of cookies, store bought and homemade into school during lunch. I asked people to taste test the store bought and homemade, then had them vote for which one they liked better. Having this taste test was a lot of fun, everyone enjoyed free cookies! |
