Dinner?  🍴  The Chefs  🍴  Technology Classes  🍴  Cool Sites  🍴  Design a Website

Dinner is Served!

Through many hours of coding, editing, writing, photoshopping and hard work, Caitlin and Olivianne have created a website for the MCWT web design contest. For Caitlin, this is not a new experience, having been in the running for this prior to the beginning of the trimester. For Olivianne, this is a completely different story, as she has never competed in the contest before. Our teacher did not guide us through everything as she has done in our intro to web design classes. Instead, we were trusted to have the proper tools to build our own website with time, a list of elements we needed to include, and a deadline. Through the knowledge that we have learned in the previous classes and an idea, we created a fully functional website in ten weeks. Caitlin and Olivianne would agree that the biggest problem to overcome would be the limited amount of time on working on the website and the ever approaching deadline. There were many times we would also have a certain element on our webpage that would just not work, and would have to be replaced at the last second, which was frustrating. Caitlin and Olivianne persevered despite these problems and with their hard work ethic and problem solving skills, they created a website that they are very proud of and would like to share with others!

The Chefs

Image: Caitlin had an accident with some buttercream. My name is Caitlin Beirne. I am a senior at Lake Shore High School and will be a part of the class of 2016. My dream career is to be a web designer. I do my best to achieve good grades and I do not give up on my goals. My favorite subjects would be chemistry, web design, and math. I am responsible, happy to give help to anyone who needs it, and I’m quiet. I am on Lake Shore's Girls Varsity Bowling Team. I dual enroll at Macomb Community College. I enjoy cake decorating, reading, and bowling in my free time. I hope to become a web designer. I have done two websites, competed in the Michigan Council of Women in Technology's annual web design competition, and I’ve presented at the Mathematics, Science, and Technology Symposium for Middle School Girls. I believe those will help me become a web designer and help me get into my career choice. I am good in all subjects, including algebra, English, and chemistry. On the weekends I have bowling practice and after my high school classes I go to my college class(s). I've bowled my entire life and I was a swimmer in middle school. My goal is to make a great career out of web designing.

Image: Olivianne also had an accident with buttercream. My name is Olivianne James. I am a senior at Lake Shore High School. I used to swim in competitions and was on the Kennedy Middle School team all throughout middle school. I am very interested in computers and web design. I would like to become a computer programmer after high school. I like to swim, as well as play video games and listen to music. I like hanging out with my friends and I am learning how to play the piano. I do well in academics. I have a great grade point average that I have kept through middle school and have been keeping up with in high school. I am rarely ever late to class, if not ever. I always pay attention in class and most of the teachers I have really like me. My goal after high school, as I said before, is to become a computer programmer. Technology will be the center of the career I be going in, because you will be using computers and associated programs on the computer, which is technology.
